I don't say this often, but that's nothing short of ****ing insane! What if one of those lets go? That's a LOT of energy stored up in those springs... A real good way to kill someone.

But I'm willing to bet you're not.
Let's start with this. How is that bumper part of the frame. It's not. It's bolted to the frame. Not part of it. But bolted to it.
The frame is attached to the frame.... well because it is the frame.
Ok that's difference one.
Second difference.
The bumper is mounted in a crush zone. A soft part of the frame. A part of the frame that will bend with any kind of force or impact.
Third reason why you are stupid.
You say to "tighten that **** down!"
Ok so add the full sprung tension of an entire suspension system. Let's just for ****s and giggles say that's 4 tons of pressure on the straps. That amount of pressure is a pulling down on a bumper not meant to handle that kind of pressure, and pulling up on some hoops on the trailer. I have some big hoops on my trailer. They are rated at 2000lbs each. That would be max weight on all the hooks. Would I want to have that bouncing around behind me? Hell no.

Average x pattern on straps around the axle might have a max of a ton pull pressure at any time. Zero pressure on my suspension.
Now try to justify why why the bumper and the frame are the same.
LOL. wow. god i bet you feel like the hottest **** to walk the earth. you even put a gay little picture in there too.
im stupid? i never insulted you. or said any **** about you.
the bumper and the frame are the SAME. if you dont realize that maybe lets make it clearer.
By "YOUR LOGIC" you dont not want to tighten on the bumper because "of the load on the suspension" if you tighten the vehicle down VIA THE FRAME LIKE YOU SAID. your still putting load on the suspension. same as if you tie VIA bumper. does that make sense? or are you going to respond with another dumb picture?
just have daddy buy you a brand new jeep and dump 200k in it and you wont even have to trailer your rig.

What kind of crack are they selling in your town? odgreen never recommended strapping down the frame, certainly never to the point where the suspension is compressed.
If you seriously think the bumper and frame are "the same", I've gotta ask you if you know what a bolt is.
HINT: They're these small little metal pins that hold the bumper on.
So yes, you ARE stupid. And incredibly irresponsible.

the only reason i commented was to ask why ODgreen's post contradicts himself.

we are talking about jeeps right? this is a jeep forum? im not hauling some car? most of us have aftermarket bumpers? your bumper definitely helps spread the load out on that paper thin unibody frame you got there. definitely better then some random hole in the frame like tow truck drivers often use.
in all seriousness, i really am just disappointed in the way this community treats people. like why did my statement deserve such extravagant flaming session? instead of responding with something of actual substance i get things like "your ****ing dumb man do you know what a bolt is?" or like the quote above... like really? is that how you guys treat fellow jeepers?
and i will admit, that now i realize tying down via axles is going to be the best way to secure to a trailer. i guess i always used my bumpers cuz i figured theyre strong and easily accessible. and ill repeat myself... never had a problem with that. but i never really thought about the load on the suspension.
^ so it should be axles vs frame/bumpers,, NOT axles/frame vs bumpers.
this is my last post in this thread.
hope you had a good day.
