Default trailer lights

Now that I almost have my too cool new hitch installed, the problem turns to doing the wiring for the trailer lights.
Somewhere I read that there is (?) a small plastic panel covering a plug for the lighting. Might this be true? (tis a '97 Cherokee Sport.)
I sure hate to start tapping into existing wiring if there is any other option...is there?
Thanks as always

I used the one below. No splicing wires. It just plugs into the harness at the back left behind the panel where the spare tire is.

What JeepguyMN said.. Also, you can get those plug 'n play type harnesses at about any trailer supply. I got one at U-Haul, but they can be found cheaper online.
