Default Trailer Hitch Receiver for '01 Cherokee?

Hello all,

I'm looking to fit a trailer hitch to my '01 Sport. Anybody out there used any hitches that worked well? I've already looked in Reese 51001 and Reese 44088. The 51001 did not fit and I didn't feel like I should have to drill it out to fit properly. I'm not looking to spend a lot (Less than $120 preferably). I'd appreciate the name/model # of any hitches you all have had success with. Thanks!

Go to curtmfg or etrailers website and enter your model and hitches that fit will be brought up.

Sorry, can't delete my post- I had a factory one but apparently someone took it from the side of my house... it was rusted pretty bad anyways.

I put a curt hitch on my 2000 last year. It fits great. It went on easy enough. You might have some trouble with the nut strip on the pass side frame rail. It can be rusty and a pita to use. I dont have the model number handy but this is what it looked like after I installed it.

I dont think the sticker is still legible. It was around $110 shipped if I recall. Got it online somewhere.

Edit: Its model 13084

The initial one I ordered did not fit. About 1/4" short. After returning it (to Walmart) I ordered another 51001 from Summit Racing with the plan to just drill the holes out and it fit perfectly, no drilling required. So perhaps Walmart mislabeled theirs?

And yes, I did have to re-Tap all of the weld nuts on the passenger side.
