I just put one a rough country 3 inch lift and the track bar didnt align back up correctly. I figured i needed an adjustable track bar, but when i got the truck back on the ground and moved the wheel around it fit in. Is it safe to drive with that track bar for now until i get the new one? Plus a heard some grinding underneath when i let off the gas, but not when i hit the gas. Is this a driveline problem? Thanks in advance

 

You're fine with a stock track bar at 3" and yes you need a sye or tcase drop.

 

I just installed my 3 inch lift this past weekend and I disconnected my track back to get more droop out the axle to get the coils in. Anyway I went to put the track bar bolt back in and it was about an inch off of going it the factory hole. So I tried to jack the axle up and get it to align but that didn't work so then I jacked up just the DRIVER side of the axle and the track bar lined right up...so with the jeep up on jack stands. With a floor jack, jack up the driver side of the axle and keep checking the trac bar for hole alignment and keep jacking till the hole lines up. It should work. Worked for me

OMG, slow your roll tito... your track bar does not just need to bolt up, you need to relocate the hole it mounts to on your axle to get your axle back to center underneath the jeep... right now it's sticking out the drivers side slightly. You can drive it like that, but don't if you got brand new tires on it because they are going to wear funny.

And SYE at 3"? better check those u-joints...

At 3"s you really do need either an adjustable tracbar or relocate the stock one.

The axle WILL not line up with the stock bar in the stock hole. I don't care how close you think it looks.

 

Lol do you know how many people run the stock track bar in the stock hole at 3"? Do it if you want, but I think you will be fine where it is. I had mine like that for a year and did not notice unusual tire wear

 

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am aware of how many folks on this forum cut corners and half-*** their lifts because they're too lazy to drill one hole or don't want to spend the cash on an adjustable.

Why would you sit here and try to tell all the folks that don't know any better to lift their Jeep the wrong way when you could tell them how to do it right?

I PROMISE that in the stock hole with the stock bar your axle sat at least .75" to the drivers side. If your tires didn't wear unevenly then you got lucky.

Yeah.. I guess you're right. He probably should just re drill the hole but I'm saying that I don't think it's that big a problem at 3" of lift.

I did a lift on both my 87 waggys at roughly the same time. And one needed it and the other did not. Can't lie with a tape measure. Dunno why my waggy was fine maybe the fact i don't run sways i dunno. But 4 years running it with stock track bar no relocation and never had issues. Buddy drove behind me and said I didn't dogwalk...

Now on the other hand my wifes rig I had to relocate the track bar hole as it was off. I did a write up on it and it is in our write ups section.

I have no clue why mine settled in with no adjustment but I wasn't complaining either.
