So I just bought a Kodiak hybrid 160 by skamper trailer. It's a 16 foot. It will weigh loaded and wet around 3900lbs. My jeep is a 98 cherokee classic automatic with the 4.0.
I have a Trans cooler out of a 97 chev I need to put in. And I'm aware I'll also need a brake controller for the trailer.
Is there anything else I can do to help my jeep tow this thing around? I mean anything suspension or power wise I could use both probably. Or even a brake upgrade idk. Help! Thanks jeepers

 

You will need different gears for sure and that depends on your tire size but required with the 4.0.


I tow with my 04 WJ a 4.7HO with a factory towing package and tow my XJ on a all steel 18' Dove Tail Car Hauler about the same weight or more and it has brakes on both axles. Stopping power is the issue it seems, my V-8 with 3.73 gears pull it fine but lots of extras in the towing package included.

 

How far do you want to tow it ?
