Default tough upholstery cleaner???

Ok I just got back to my xj project after a year on backburner. The seats are filthy!! I got the expensive neoprene covers for the front(will do back after umpteen other things), but I hate to just cover up dirt. This thing must of been a friggin shop car or something, they feel and smell greasy. When I welded in a new driver pan I pressure washed the carpet and got it looking good but I was afraid to hit the seats. Tuff stuff foam doesn't really phase it, any other suggestions? The seats are back in so pressure washing is no longer a option. Any suggestions are appreciated, I have a mean green machine but I'm thinking strong solution, scrub brush and shop vac is more in order

Hmm I'll have to look into how hard they are to take off I didn't think of that, I did want to sand and paint the bases so maybe I'll pull em back out and make it easier(after breaking and repairing seat bolts during pan replacement I anti seized the crap out of all the bolts)...thanks

+1... yeah, that!

I was in the same boat. I think the PO used the jeep to haul car parts around. When I bought it, it wreaked of gas, oil, grease and who knows what else. I ended up pulling the carpets (there was a very oily, greasy film on the floor pan throughout) out and removed the upholstery from the seats. Afterwards, I soaked them in a purple power/water solution for about an hour, then took the to a spray wash to rinse them as good as possible. Once I brought them back home, I threw them in the washer with detergent and oxy clean. I am very pleased w/ the outcome.
