Mine is trashed. No fixing it unless I buy another wheel. So some electrical tape and a steering wheel cover.

It's torn up on the top, so I put a steering wheel cover on it. It wouldn't have bothered me, but the material underneath the torn leather smelled like play-dough....

How can you not like the smell of play-dough???? Lol but i did the same, found a cover that looks decent, matches the interior, and fits really tight so I don't have to worry about slippage all the torn steering wheels I see are torn in the same place

But now I can try to pinpoint all the other weird smells that drift through my jeep!

Aaah yes, but those are jeep smells and they are good (except for the burning electrical and boiling antifreeze)

Mine is cracked and dried at the 12 o'clock position. I used a cover.

When I first got my XJ, the steering wheel had some tearing on the top like most do. The previous owner had a cover on it, but I seriously can't stand them so I took it off and call mine character ;-). Besides the initial stickyness, it doesn't bother me at all. Of course I don't have as much damage as most.

mine was torn when I bought it, so I just recovered it with leather ( I work at a custom leather shop)
used some light weight (3 ounce) cow hide and a baseball stitch and gave her a brand new cover
