so I would be driving lots of highway and a little mud, lots of tight trails and rocks

Wrangler MT/R clones or BF Goodrich KM1 clones? both are the same dirt cheap price

I think the MT/R's are a better tire for rocks and trail riding personally also a bit quieter on the road the the KM1's.

ok so my wife is giving me crap...

MY rears are worn out... she wants me to buy ONLY 2 tires...

treadwrights claim that their 285/75/16 is 33.2" tall

but a normal 285/75/16 SHOULD be only 32.83" tall

but since all I have left is 40% thread... then they are more like 31.15" tall

so here is my question... since I do not have lockers and I only have part time 4wd, would I be OK (I figured I could run a new tire on the front and another new on on the back)

or

Do I need to tell the old lady... 'too Eff'ing Bad... the Jeep needs shoes' ???

Well I have the D-Tracs. They are awesome on the road. Can't say what they can do offroad b/c mine is my dd and i don't do alot of o/r.

I love the little road noise they create, its not obnoxious at all. In the snow?? WOW. they're just freakin great. I got mine from discounttire and paid 516 shipped to my door for my 235's.

In your case. If your wife is giving you some grief, i would just go for the treadrights.
You are not supposed to have missmatched tread with a 4x4 from what i have been told. You can do it but i've read its hard on the t-case.

Sorry if i'm wrong but thats what i was told, wich is why i bought 4 new ones.

I would personally never replace only 2 tires. It's just safer to replace all 4.

Yep tell the old lady to bad and get all four, i did that to mine 3 times and she gets mad for a couple days but eventually gets over and your good to go

PS. I've ran treadwrights gaurd dogs(315/75R16) on my old pickup and loved them, almost half the price of new and did excellent off road.

Awesome, i'll sure you'll like them. I've ran my old 35" gaurd dogs through some deep snow and didn't slow me up a bit, and you definatly cant beat the price.lol

well I am coming from 2 matching WilD Country 285/75/16 with 30% tread in the front (and a nail in the tire...)

1 unevenly worn Wild country 285/75/16 at 5-20% tread, the tread wear is sloped

and

1 Maxxis Mudder 285/75/16 with 15% tread, dry rot, and rounded tread lines
