Default Tires question

I currently have 235 75 15 on my 97 xj with 3" lift. Want to know what the biggest I can put on without having to shave anything aka without worrying about any type of rubbing. Plus Id like something that will work great on the road( not a lot of noise) and off roading. And preferably not anything too expensive. What do you guys recommend?

You'll be fine with 31's on a 3 inch lift as far as height. As long as you bump stop you can run them on factory backspacing (5.25 I believe)....(It's only really going to rub at full lock on factory wheels without bumpstop adjustments) If your running aftermarket wheels with an offset of 4.5 or better you should be ok without the bumpstops. My .02

As for tires, you may want to check out the Yokohama Geolander a/t's Very affordable, good tread life and quite running. I haven't ran them personally but a friend has them and the reviews I've read online have been positive. They have some light side tread which gives them a more aggressive look from the side but the tread itself isn't overly aggressive and is highway friendly.
