There are probably a million threads like this. well anways.. heres my case. i have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4 door. with 4" of lift. i plan to put some 31 inch tires on there now. there isnt very many 32 inch tires out there.. i think.. 33's wont fit i dont think and i dont really want to trim anything. i go mudding about once every 3 weeks or so.. i live on highway about 8 minutes from town.. i just turned 18 and i plan to go through les scwab to start a good credit and tires are a good cheap way to start out. Im not really sure what i want. i like the dick cepek's but im not really sure.. i heard a lot about the maxxis bighorns and so on. micky thompsons are very good looking.. opinions? money is not really an option... keep under a million. its all i got on me

The best bang for the buck that I've seen is the "MTG" from TreadWright. Yes, it's a retread, but are you really going wrong with the Goodyear Wrangler MTR tread on a BFG carcass? http://treadwright.com/shopNowresult...5&next=+Next+# $85 a piece for 31s. My cousin just put some on his S-10 Blazer.

I have the Mickey Thompson MTZ's and couldn't be happier. I previously bought "cheap" tires, like trxus mt's, pepboy tires, etc and never was satisfied. They didn't balance well or wore fast. The mtz's i have now are 32" tall, but are 16's so we have more options that you guys with 15's. I say stick with 31" for now. This is coming from experience because I have 4" lift and the 32's rub all over the place. I wanted 32's because bigger looks better but I didn't realize they would rub like mad.

procomp mud terrain the best tires IMO for price, wear, and noise and they look good. I've had BFG , NIttos ,and goodyears still the procomps are my favorite and stay away from the bighorn they blow IMHO we used those on all our trucks at work in NM and hear in Texas there loud as hell and wear fast.

What trucks do you have at work? What may wear down fast and be loud on a full size will wear much longer and be quieter on our light xj's. Originally Posted by TXstiGuy

I bought the Authority AT's made by Good Year at WalMart. 31X10.5-15's are $130 per tire. I have about 1500 miles on them and love them. And I have no idea why they call them a AT they have some very deep tread on them..
Here are the tires i got. so far i love them. they are very quiet and i dont rub at all. kinda spendy but iv been told they are worth it. what do you guys think? also.. what do you think would be a good choice of rims. i like black rims but not sure if they will look good on my jeep or not.

Almost every commercial truck (think semi trucks, etc.) on the road is running retreads. If they weren't safe, the DOT/NHTSA wouldn't let you buy them.Originally Posted by dlundblad
Would retreads be any good for a daily driver? Just the concept of them doesnt seem safe.

They are safe to use. Nowadays technology is much more improved than previous tech. Some states do not allow retreads on the front axle while some states don't give a damn. You have to check your local laws before buying these but from what I've read and research about treadwright tires, they are good quality and the best bang for your buck. You just gotta take care of them. Don't run them on low pressure and keep them properly rotated and they will last.Originally Posted by dlundblad

Everything I've read on the Toyo's says they are a great tire. I like the look of 'em too.
Personally, I like the look of stock steel wheels... just what you've got.
BTW, I like your rig... the Blue ones are the good ones... haha

oh yea, i run reatreads on the freightliner big rig i drive, with 110 PSI, and since ive been driving for 15 months, i havent had a blow out with them....i think they are a great way to go to save a few bucks and are perfectly safe...Originally Posted by dlundblad

like Kevin108 said, if they werent safe, DOT would have a fit about all the companies that use them, and i would have thousands racked up in tickets from the DOT....but, they carry the 80,000 pound truck (when full to its max) down the road with no problems....so im sure it would be just fine on a 3200 pound jeep
just my .02
