Thoughts on this Cherokee, Craigslist Find
Hey guys, i've been searching for a Cherokee this last week or so as i need a new car and i've always wanted one. Came across an 89 Cherokee with 188,000 miles. Seems to be in great shape and the owner seems to have taken care of it. What should i be expecting to pay for this? She put a new radio, new speakers, padded headliner and visors, new battery, and $900 worth of brand new Michelin tires. It's an I6, 4x4. Only problem she can find with the car she says is a noise coming from the ABS brake cylinder which comes and goes. She said it brakes fine but just an annoying sound can be heard from it from time to time.
Anything i should be looking out for on an 89, i was looking for a newer model year but this one looks to be in good shape. She's asking $3850, i've got her down to $3650 but won't go any lower. She seems to be adding the value of the parts she just put on into the value of the car. Here's a current picture of it. Comments are appreciated, thanks.

I paid $4k for a 2001 with 123k and newer tires the same size. It was a little much but I had a window of opportunity with the Mrs. so I had to jump. Plus this is MN an folks like to have at least one 4wd. I saw some nice rust free deals in Florida when I was on a business trip there.

any $2000 car with $1500 in new parts is still worth only $2000
the only time people get their money back out of restoration is if the car is a classic
but if you have the money and you know you'll be happy, I say buy it
just know that theres a ton of xj's at better deals out there and a lot of people sell before summer
and you can spend all the extra money you save on aftermarket parts
91-96 models have always been my preference for the ax15 but still has old body style and low asking prices
good luck I'm right there with you on the hunt

like everyone has said, too much. Bought my first 2001 with 155k for $4000 and my second 1999 with 144k for $3000...just have some patience and you'll find the right one.
