Default Those with rear tire carriers

I have been searching the threads of all the made/bought rear bumper tire carriers and I have decided that I am going to get one with the money i get from selling my old tires.

I am no excellent "fabber" so making one might be out of the picture, but thats not the concern as of now.

What i want to know is how much a rear tire carrier limits the vision out of the rear window. I would still like to be able to see out of the right portion of thewindow for lane changes and whatnot, my right side mirror always has mud on it.

What do you suggest? I have not found any tire carriers that are set more on the left side of the rear.. Anyyy help much appreciated

yea mine wouldnt hold a 33...its mounted to the factory bumper of course, and even with that 30, you can tell its pushing that carrier to its limits

I have the one from www.detoursusa.com and it is on the left side. It also has additional mounting points in the frame rail for extra rigidity. Between that and the quarter panel protection, it was a no brainer for my wants.
Rear visibility kind of sucks with any carrier you get. There is a good gap on the right side, but a 33” tire still takes up a lot of window. I can take a picture later out the back window if you want to see what this one looks like.

That's A great way to beef up that weak factory bumper mount FrankZ.
I about ripped off my aftermarket bumper when the nuts pulled through the bolt holes. I ended up cutting and drilling a few pieces of steel to put where the factory nuts are located. It held for a while, but your idea looks to be the way to go

I have heard of that, never seen it on any XJ though. Are you running 33s with the tailbone- 11.50 or 12.50 etc.. Yeah lets get some pics when you get the chance. Thanks very much!
