Default Thinking of rear comp cut....

So im fixing to start my HPD44/9" swap and been pondering what im gonna do out back.. Aint much on chopping up a vehicle, but do believe im gonna cut out what you see from the top of the tape line, down.. So i can move the rearend back atleast 6"s.. Plan to keep it leaf for more stability, Dont wanna go too crazy, just stretch it out a little.. Who all here has done this?.. Post up some pics and what you think of my idea'r..

With that much stretch I will have to relocate gas tank. And plan on running big tires or it looks goofy.

I would ditch the 3/4 tons as well. Go to 1 tons now.

Those axles should be fine and plan on new shock mounts as well as redoing the inner fender wells.

what size tires do you plan to run.

its a great way to get clearence. but be prepared for all the work ahead with stretching.
-new shock mounts
-relocate gas tank
-rebuild inner fenders
-figure out new tailights (if you're going to drive it on the street.
-making solid leaf spring mounts for the stretch.

And an antiwrap bar if you plan on flipping the rear leaves.

I ma running 44/9" combo with a 2 " WB stretch and more planned, just didnt want to comp cut it when I did it, and all I did was trim so the tires fit, and didnt rub. By no means is it perfect, but it works great, and doesnt rub.

My ultimate4 plan is to stretch the rear out using MJ leafs/linking it. I put a fuel cell in my heep at the same time I did the axle swap. That might have been the best thing I did beside the doubler/fullwidths/cage.

Also dont listen to everyone who says you should have built 1 tons. Lots of ppl are wheeling happily with d44/9" combo's. As long as you limit your tire size to 37/38" and drive with a lil caution you will be fine.

Mine has a 2" stretch and no comp cut with 38s. They rub a little but I don't like it as tall as it is and eventually plan on tubing the rear and pushing the front out another inch or so, it's moved almost 2" forward now.

One of the biggest reasons id like to comp cut it is so ill have more clearence in the back, considering i plan to keep it low as possible and running undecided 36"s or even 38"s... Im a welder/fabricator and work in a fab shop so any sheet metal or fab work it will take, wont be a problem. Though really i just need more room in the back to clear up to a 38"...
