Things not to say to an xj owner
Cherokees do not have a "truck" Chassis/frame, or anything close to one.
Ive never seen a truck, even s10s/rangers, with unibody construction.
the Cherokee is described as a "station wagon" on the registration and on the title on all 4 I know of, 3 of them Ive owned.
..."I want a 'Jeep-jeep' you know, the kind with the removable top?"

XJ's are station wagons. zj's are titled as an SUV.
truck plates are given when the vehicle is rated to pull a certain amount of weight. so the only XJ's i could see being titled as a truck are the ones with the stock towing pkg (still i dont think its rated high enough) or if you customize it and have it retitled and inspected by the highway patrol and it has been chopped to be a truck. then they will use the term light truck.
thats coming from a certified mechanic who owns an XJ and knows all the good info.
point being i could title it however i want. you can change a title anytime. i could have it say car if i wanted. but they came as a wagon or light truck. its basically a small truck with an unremovable bed topper.
and p.s. the volkswagon (rabbit?) truck was unibody.

look at the old wagons. theyre like the cars they portray but the roof line goes all the way back to a hatch. an SUV a robust offroad capable station wagon.usually much bigger and sporty. thats why the grand cherokee is the suv. our tires were smaller and overall the XJ was smaller and not as sporty. and soccor moms drive vans. vans are for the most part a truck wagon. panel trucks were the original term.
and the XJ concept was made off the wagoneer idea. which was a boxy 4wd stationwagon

Station wagons are cool though!
You've got powerful v8 wagons.
The old AMC Eagle.
And then the XJ.
They're all good, but I still would rather it be called a Jeep, Cherokee, or XJ.
Back on topic: I was trying to persuade my dad to let me do the doorless mod on my Jeep, and he asked, "Why do XJ guys spend so much time saying that the XJ is a real Jeep, and as good or better than a Wrangler, and then go and remove the doors to make it more like a Wrangler?"
I told him that you don't go doorless to be like a Wrangler, you go doorless to go doorless.
He drive a ZJ though, so I think he was just messing with me.
