Default Street wheels and rims

I have a brand new Jeep cherokee Trailhawk 4x4 with Firestone AT tires and wheels that came with it. I was looking to get a 2nd set of standard tires and rims for it to just use for regular driving and not 4x4 driving type. what is recommended on a budget. thanks

If you have a brand new vehicle I believe you can afford good tires. Go Michelin

Keep in mind you have tpms aka tire pressure monitoring system,So you will have to buy rims that will work with the sensors your jeep uses and another set of sensors installed in the new rims. And also everytime you change a wheel you will have to clear the ecu code which if you don't have a good scanner the dealer or tire shop will have to do that for you.

Michelin does nothing to justify their insane prices. The Defender LTX as an example...there are numerous tires that are as good for almost all drivers interested in this kind of tire for practically half the cost.

My immediate thoughts for the OP are that Firestone AT's are already basically street tires. They're certainly not a great choice as dedicated off-roaders.

I know nothing about the wheel situation, but I can go on for weeks about tires, and if someone really wants me to, I need to know more such as:
  • What size tire?
  • Where (geography/climate) will the tire be used?
  • What conditions/weather/seasons will the tire be driven in?
  • What are the priorities of the driver (dry traction, wet traction, winter traction, longevity, comfort, noise, short-term price, long-term cost of ownership, etc)?
  • What is the budget?

I agree. Those Firestone's are really not an off road tire.
The best "budget" advice is to not buy anything, just run what ya got.
