Time to build a starter disable

Glad you got her back. I know how it's like to have your baby stolen. Only I didn't get mine back.
I always hoped the thieves ran off the road and over a cliff, tumbling down the rocky hill until they hit the bottom. Then crawling out of the twisted wreckage all cut and bruised they are engulfed in a spectacular explosion as punishment from Lady Karma and the XJ God.

I'm glad you got it back. It's weird that they would take the overhead console, though. Might check your local craigslist to see if it's listed. That and the car seat and fishing pole.

Some of the most popular cars to steal are older ones, like Toyotas and Hondas, since they are a good source of parts. Since pretty much every XJ part is interchangeable with every other year XJ... well, pretty good market for parts.
Either that or they are stupid.

You give them too much credit
Most car thieves have the I.Q. of a walnut. Google "bait car" and see what I mean.
I'm glad you got your baby back with a minimum amount of damage. Like some else has already stated... it's kill switch time.
It's not so much the interchangability of the factory parts as it is the aftermarket parts that have been installed. The XJs and Hondas are plentiful in the junkyards so fenders and doors are readily available. The money spent on lift kits, engine performance mods, tires, wheels, and stereo systems is what the thieves are after. Those types of items will resell very quickly.

Ya I have been waiting to put my switch in but I got back to work have have been working crazy hours so I put it off. ( big mistake) well you bet when insurance comes out the first thing I do (after all the fixing) will be a switch. But Im happy my rims and tires and lift and drive train is there. Just more concerned about my sons seat and his first fishing pole.
