Gonna be doing a lot of driving so I want better tunes! Have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that has an older after market cassette deck/radio.

I've had two thoughts, one is to get a cassette adapter and plug an MP3 player into the deck and buy better speakers. The other is just get a new system, don't really need to have tape or CD so long as it has AM/FM and an aux jack for MP3 player.

A little more volume would be nice, these are stock speakers and distort if you turn it up at all. Any suggestions for a good replacement? I'm too damn old for a speaker box in the back, so I just want to swap out what is in there now.

 

Put in a new stereo first. It will be able to supply more power to the speakers so you can turn it up louder without distortion. Clarion and Alpine are good brands.
