spray painting questions
Hey guys not sure if this goes here but i figured its the best place to post this. I saw that some have spray painted there xj's and i had a few questions on doing it. One do you prime it with spay paint primer or normal primer? How many coats did you do? how many cans roughly did it take? Do you clear coat like with a perfesonial clear? Any help would be great im looking at doing a flat olive green but not sure what needs to be done to spray it and not get messed up!

1st: visual quality. if you want it to good, you get good spray paint with nice primer and a clear coat. if not, a case flat black and a good hour you are done (thats how i do mine)
2nd, strength. if you want something that will last a while, get good stuff. but if you scratch yours a lot and are ganna be redoing parts often (like i do) case of flat black.
3rd, bedliner. more expensive and to some ppl not very good looking, but if you want strong thats the best way to go (its just not worth it to me)

I rattle canned my '93 and '89... I wet sanded with 400 and then sprayed it with rustoleum bedliner. Then I sanded the bedliner lightly to remove most of the texture, but still leaving a nice hammered feel to it. I then top coated with 3-4 coats of Krylon exterior (outdoor spaces) satin. It took about 9 cans of topcoat. It's held up extremely well...
