What would be the best size speakers to put up front and in the rear for a 99 Cherokee

The stock size was 5.25" speakers for many of the Cherokees...but 5.25" are kinda wimpy. If you get creative, you can put just about anything you want in there. 6.5" are solid for most folks.

You might consider 6.5" component speakers and have the tweeters mounted at about ear level for better stereo imaging. Add a sub in back for a bit of bump.

I had regular 6.5's and they kept hitting the window bracket, so I had to go shallow mount. Could be because I have a 2 door with factory infinity sound system though idk it's been about 5 years since I put them in haha.

Alpine sps-610s fit fine in the front fine if you need measurements to compare.

I'd like to do this in my 99, i've heard the bigger speakers can keep the windows from being able to roll all the way down, is that true?

I heard the same thing about my 98, has to be a shallow mount, or you need to do some custom work.

Any suggesttions on the shallow mount type, that sound good.

Thanks

I run these in the front:
Amazon.com : Infinity Reference 6032si 6.5-Inch, Shallow Mount High Performance 150-Watt Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) : Vehicle Speakers : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Infinity Reference 6032si 6.5-Inch, Shallow Mount High Performance 150-Watt Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) : Vehicle Speakers : Car Electronics

These in the back:

And this sub to tie it all toghether:
Amazon.com: Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 Punch P3 DVC 4-Ohm 10-Inch 500-Watt RMS 1000 Watts Peak Subwoofer: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 Punch P3 DVC 4-Ohm 10-Inch 500-Watt RMS 1000 Watts Peak Subwoofer: Car Electronics

Sounds great to me. But like I said its been 5 years since I looked into stereo equipment, so I'm sure there is better stuff out there now.
