yeah, i've seen lots of fail in recovery, but for the most part, i only see what i do on the job. other than assisting fellow co-workers, but we've all been certified in recovery.
that's why i'm so adamant about safe recovery. sure a chain worked last time, but next time could be disaster. a 60 dollar recovery strap connected to proper rated and installed recovery point is much cheaper than someones life, even just an injury could ruin a good day out.
use the proper equipment and learn the proper technique and keep it safe.

it's all common sense. make sure the rolled vehicle is in park or the e-brake is on. and just in case the e-brake isn't working or hooked up, strap the rolled vehicle to a tree strap to stop it from rolling downhill.
then make sure no one is stupid enough to stand in the field of recovery.
also, not standing within the spiderweb of the winch cable.
watch this to start. maybe someone can make this series of videos a sticky.

I think it would be helpful. From what you see every day most people don't know how to properly recover a stuck vehicle. Sometimes its a laughing matter watching some ding dongs on the trail try and help their fellow jeeper out, sometimes doing more damage than good. The thread should start by saying....if you don't have properly attached tow points, stay home! With all the members on here we could cover recovery from the rocks, mud, woods, sand, and so on. Heck I bet alot of people couldn't winch with their hi lift Jack in a pinch, that could be covered too. Ive even used my hi lift to straighten bent steering, winch out, pull a bent fender out to get a hood open. So I think there would be tons and tons of little sub topics to get into, more info never hurt anyone. With guys like caged who have real training, not just watching your dad pull out the tractor when your a boy and thinking your an expert now, everyone may be able to learn the right and safe way.

So false alarm. Everything said that was wrong with the jeep is wrong. My friend got with my parents and hid the jeep from me for the last two days. He brought it to school this morning hoping I wouldn't see it, but i was still in the parking lot. Freaking out is the least I could say I was doing haha. Now the only this wrong, my friend says, is that it wobbles over 35mph and is way bad over 55. Any ideas as to what would cause that?
