I am new to the Cherokee world and am interested in purchasing one. I have been reading up on some of your rides and what not. I have come to realize that the XJ is a uni-body system and is produced with a 4.0 straight six engine.

Questions:

1.) Is the Uni-Body set-up stiff, or does it twist under crawling and climbing obstacles? And is there a remedy to the uni-body set-up like frame connectors to stiffen it?

2.) How is the HP on the 4.0? HP to wt ratio and with 33-35" tall rubbers on 15x10 steelies and a Iron Rock XJ 6.5" Critical Path Long Arm Lift Kit, and 4.88's front and rear with a detroit in both? And is there favorite or certain yrs better than others with the XJ?

3) Is there any negatives I need to pay attention to when looking at XJ's out there for possible purchase? Weaknesses, bad common gremlins with this vehicle that are naked to the eye, or just plain out common issues with a XJ.

I do not hear much in the way of lack of power from what I read, but would like some honest experienced opinions on this matter. I am looking into the Cherokee XJ for the relatively cheap aftermarket out there.

I have been most of my existence a Ford man with many of V-8 Fullsize builds and and pretty much down sizing in my much older age.
