Not really a fan of darkening tail lights because it makes them less visible, perhaps you could incorporate some bright LEDs into the tail light to brighten them back up. I think they sell tinting paint at auto parts.

Yeah, I dont understand why folks want to make it more difficult to for others to see their tail lights.

And, yes, it does indeed effect the light output.

Used a can of Niteshade and sprayed about 2-3 layers over the lights. No sanding or clear coating.

I feel like I did the perfect amount. You can tell they're tinted when the lights are off, and when I brake, you can clearly see the nights. Haven't been pulled over yet.

I sprayed two coats, and its faded enough to the point where its just a dark haze over my tail lights and my lights are fully visible.

Yep, same here. 2 light coats got rid of the obnoxious red color, but my tail lights are still perfectly visible. I think it's perfect!

I used nightshade, just removed the lights from the car, cleaned them, and sprayed 2 light coats with with approx. 15 minutes between coats. It's one of the easiest things you can do!

I ordered these today. They'll give a nice clean look to the rear end. I haven't seen anyone else with them...

Worked for me. VHT Nightshade works great 2 coats tints them but still lets light through, I did my front turn signals with them and you can see them fine in broad daylight.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'll look further into this nightshade stuff. Saw a black 97+ like mine with the tinted rears and fell in love.
