Default Slightly Lower Engine Temps

I was looking under my hood this morning and noticed there was a long, L shaped metal bracket blocking possible air flow into the engine bay from the radiator. The bracket is accessed from under the hood. Their are four 10 mm nuts and 4 torq bolts securing the bracket to the front facia and radiator cross member.

I removed the bracket and drove about 10 miles. I did not notice any change in temp when sitting at traffic lights or driving slow (under 35mph). But when I got onto the hwy, I noticed the engine temp was about 10 degree's less than normal. My normal hwy engine temp is about 210-220 degree's. After I removed the bracket, the temp was around 200 degree's. It's not a big difference but it helps.

Only issue with a complete removal of that is offroad you might crack the fasha.. Cause that's what it supports..

10 degrees IS a big difference, every little bit helps, I don't understand what bracket you're talking about but if I did I'd remove mine in an instant for a 10 degree drop.

That bracket holds the top of the header panel to the radiator support. The header panel is also attached on both fenders. Might be fine without it but i don't see how removing it would lower engine temps as the radiator is below it. Maybe it allows more air to flow over the top of the motor? That bracket keeps my front end looking proper, without it my header panel looks all sorts of crooked but i also have some off-road custom bodywork. I would put it back on but if everything looks fine without it then go fer it.

I don't see how it would help either, because it would allow air to avoid the radiator which would raise temps, unless your radiator is all messed up anyway. Not disputing your claim, I'm just curious how that would make a difference.
