Default 97 Grand Cherokee - Buy?

Hello all,
New to this forum, have owned a Patriot since last summer and love it. Got to this forum from www.jeeppatriot.com. Anyway, I am looking at a second vehicle: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee -135,923 miles. A reputable local dealer has the vehicle and has it listed for $3,200.00. My question is two fold: What (if any) reocurring problems has anyone experienced with this year/model? Is the price a good buy? I think this was somewhat of a transition year for the Grand Cherokee so I'm not sure what to expect. Any comments greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks.

Chris.

I have a cherokee but if its the 4.0 you cant go wrong. I hear the V8 that comes with those things is pretty good as well but I know that the 4.0 is amazing. They are very comfortable as well.

Did 97 have the 5.9 v8? Or was that 98?

My '97 is great and has the 5.2L V8 w/AWD, and has 187,000+ miles. It's loaded, and I love it. It tows great is nice and comfy, rides good, but since I don't go off-road I can't say anything about that. That's a fair price if it's in good shape and has no problems. Some of the ZJs ('93-'98 Grand Cherokees) have electrical issues.
The 5.9L V8 didn't come out 'till '98, the only year.
And Welcome to CF!
