If I were doing it over again this is design feature I would be looking for.
When you land hard on rails that use just a small angle against the pinch seam, you will actually crush the angle and pinch seam and shove the brackets of the rail (the ones that go back to the "frame") up into the rocker panel. What a mess.
The design above would be much less prone to bending and would distrute the impact over a much larger area.
I like those.

Awesome pictures Desert rat. I definitely like the mounting system they're using. That might have convinced me to get that set up.

Now in reality how hard of a hit would it take to damage the jcr sliders compared to the rusty's? I mean i've seen good reviews from both sides and both seem to take a beating...

I don't think the issue is whether the rock rail will fail, rather the issue is the way they mount... do they distibute the impact over a large area at the rocker panel or not?
Quite possibly you'll never wheel your rig hard enough for it to be an issue.
If that is the case either the JCR or AJ's will likley be fine... I like the AJ's better for the rear mount setup.

I've seen desert rats sliders in action, & they can take a hard hit with the best of them! (Took some of my mounting ideas from his sliders) The only thing really that rustys has over the others, is the lower "frame rail" mounting bolts!!!
