I want to install a gas tank, transfer case & engine/tranny skid plates on my 98 Cherokee Sport. Before I buy new, I want to check out a local junk yard. My question is, does it matter whick year Cherokee's I pull from and if so which years should I be looking at, to achieve a direct fit without fabrication? Thanks.

any year on the front end and the tcase skid. (beware the manual and auto tcase skits are different and so are the 242 and the 231. manual is a longer skid, 242 is a lower hanging skid) the gas tank from a pre 96 can be made to work but you need to redrill the mounting holes

unfortunately that is misinformation. The cross member is the same. it is either mounted using the forward or the rear holes in the unibody
