Should rack be mounted like this???

Title says it all:

New jeep owner - I am taking off the rack to sand, primer and paint.

Is this the best way to mount this rack? Thanks in advance.

probably not the best way to mount that rack.

probably not. I would try to find some gutter mounts. Those are usually the best way to do it.

it works apparently but not the safest or best way to do it

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I googled gutter mounts and that really seems the way to go.

Now I'm wondering if the rack that is on it it too wide. It extends about 3-4 inches on each side of the jeep roof. Thanks for looking at it.
