Should I trade?
So I got offered a Sr20 swapped 240sx (http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/4655654119.html) for my 93 Jeep Cherokee and YFZ 450.
Jeep: Lifted 6.5 Rough Country Short arm, 5 Speed.
Needs: Front wheel bearings, Tires, Front drive shaft rebuilt, Floorpans rewelded. And I can see little runs trying to come back. Rear brakes.
http://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/4678659668.html
Yfz 450: Exhaust and rebuilt motor.
I just wanted to know if yall thought it would be a good trade. I got mine listed for $6000 for both and hes asking $5500. I have a back up vehicle just in case 240 breaks down. But do yall think its a good trade? Trying to get my opinions and the guy seem real up front about everything and what it need. Ex. He says it needs a clutch soon but he will replace before he trades. So What do yall think?
I know I could find another jeep with even more stuff down the road. I kinda don't wont to get rid of it but Im looking at money wise.

I think you're asking the wrong people...LOL
I just don't understand these types of questions. How are we supposed to make up your mind for you? If you don't want to get rid of it, don't get rid of it....but you made a CL ad which tells me you've already made up your mind...

Personally, I ask for some cash as well, somewhere in the range of $500-$1000.
Is it a real sr20det or is it a sr20de with an aftermarket turbo set up? I'm a fan of the 240s, but then again I'm a fan of most smaller cars with turbos and rwd.
I wouldn't make the trade myself but that is based on being in 2wd vehicles for the past 22 years that required me to shovel snow. I'm fully enjoying NOT shoveling snow as an XJ owner.

Don't do it, you're going to get burned on that trade. That Nissan looks like it has had some hackery done upon it.

It really comes down to what he wants to drive. After seeing his ad though, I'd hold out for a wrx.

Rice isn't worth that much.
Seriously though, in your ad, you say you're also willing to trade for a for a cummins/powerstroke, OR a 240. Those are kind of opposite ends of the spectrum, which makes me think you're unsure of what you really want. You'd be giving up your jeep and your quad, I'd at least hold out for a trade that doesn't look all hacked up.

No, because if you trade both your toys away, that 240 isn't gonna do too well off road.
Nah but seriously, I had a lifted Tacoma I traded for a v6 camaro, and I immediately missed off roading, wheeling and mudding. That's why I got myself an XJ now.

I wouldn't trade both. Just because he's ASKING $5500 doesn't mean it's WORTH $5500. That's a $3500 car MAX. The wheels are cheap Mustang Bullitt knockoffs and I'd almost bet money the "fully adjustable coilovers" are ebay coilover sleeves on stock struts. $1000 car with $1750 swap (if you do work yourself), and $500 wheels...
BUT, on the flip side of things, YFZ's are cheap these days, I can buy them all day every day for $2000 or less where I live

A hacked together ricer 240sx, RUN, run as fast as you can from that. Ricers in general are a bad idea, they tend to be poorly built and beat to hell. If you want any kind of Japanese "Performance" car you are best getting one as stock as possible and building it yourself.
As other have said it is also way overpriced. $5k should buy a nice NA (naturally-aspirated) 300zx (or a late-90s V8 Mustang or Camaro/Firebird)and you can probably get a 300zx with a turbo (factory, not something hacked together) for $6-7k, though I wouldn't touch an older/higher-mileage turbo car unless you have a lot of money put aside for repairs (a turbo is likely to need rebuilt/replaced if it has a lot of miles and it puts more stress on the engine amplifying the normal wear that comes with age/mileage).

I think some of you guys may not understand the market for a 240sx. This is a highly desirable platform I the tuner/drifting community.
Like a cj, the 240sx is a cult car that people WILL over pay for. This isn't a civic or a corolla.

I agree with you. I owned a 240sx for a month. I bought it from a coworker who started to do a ka- sr20det swap and was in over his head. I picked it up for 500. Put some new kyb struts. And some tein lowering springs with new eibach swaybars. And fixed the hacked up **** and completed the swap. Took the car to maaco and had it sprayed flat black. Since the po did all the body work then I sold it for 4500 I had maybe 2k in it total But that was also about 8 years ago before they were really sought after

I based my pricing on what I could build said car for. A roller 240 is around $1000 in my neck of the woods and a black top sr is $1750 from www.osakajdmmotors.com

On top of that if you don't factor in what labor would cost, you are implying that your time has absolutely no value at all.
