My rear Dana 35 needs to be replaced. found a dana 44 someone is sellin for $300. i just need a good replacement and i know i can get somethin cheaper. no serious offroading for me cause its my daily driver. would it be worth it to get the 44 i know they're popular.

I would do it. I would try to get it for less, though.

If you do not do much wheeling, or hard wheeling, it may be overkill. You can probably find an 8.25 for cheaper. This may be a blaspheme, but you could get another D35 for dirt cheap. If you don't plan on going up in tire size or locking the diff, there is no reason to fear them, IMO. They don't blow up randomly and kill kittens with shrapnel

If you can't find the others for any cheaper, or price is not an issue, then by all means, the D44 is the strongest choice.

$300 isn't a terrible price, though.

Agreed - $300 is less than most guys with an XJ D44 would ask. We are sure it is an XJ D44? Any other D44 changes the situation considerably.
