if you have the Haynes Cherokee book; on page 1-22 to 1-23 it has pictures and description.

Ill try to describe it. There are two bolts behind the power steering pump, and a belt tension below that. Just loosen those three. And loosen the last bolt that faces you(front view). Have fun. I had the same issue.

Sorry bro i wasn't any help. I thought most of the XJs had the same placement of parts. Do you have any repair manuals for your jeep?

I have a 98 and there is a long bolt on the back of the power steering pulley to adjust the tension.

I have that to but it's loosened all the way and it didn't move any of the pulleys anywhere it just allowed the tension to be released by shifting the idler pulley

The last pulley I put it on is the idler pulley...it should work with the right belt and the tension 100% released.

If it seems too tight still double check the part #s, and lengths.

I'm gonna double check the routing again but as far as the part goes it's the right size. I made the guy double check that he was giving me the right part and it's the same size as my old belt

Start by wrapping the crank shaft pulley first, very bottom one, work your way up and then over towards the idler, I like to leave the little one in between the ac and the thermostat housing for last cuz it's the easiest to pop the belt under

Alright I'll try this tomorrow. My parents made me close it up for the night cause apparently homeworks more important than my jeep. But we all know thats not true haha
