ive got a 2001 jeep cherokee sport 4.0 inline 6 im trying to replace the serpentine belt and its the most frustrating thing ever, i cant get it close to getting over the last pulley no matter what side i start on, i realeased all the tension in the bottome pulley on the right to get the old belt off and now this one wont go on........... can anyone tell me how to do this or show me a picture

if you have the Haynes Cherokee book; on page 1-22 to 1-23 it has pictures and description.Ill try to describe it. There are two bolts behind the power steering pump, and a belt tension below that. Just loosen those three. And loosen the last bolt that faces you(front view). Have fun. I had the same issue.

Sorry bro i wasn't any help. I thought most of the XJs had the same placement of parts. Do you have any repair manuals for your jeep?

I have that to but it's loosened all the way and it didn't move any of the pulleys anywhere it just allowed the tension to be released by shifting the idler pulley

The last pulley I put it on is the idler pulley...it should work with the right belt and the tension 100% released.
If it seems too tight still double check the part #s, and lengths.

Start by wrapping the crank shaft pulley first, very bottom one, work your way up and then over towards the idler, I like to leave the little one in between the ac and the thermostat housing for last cuz it's the easiest to pop the belt under
