Default Sell it or put it back to stock?

I have a 96 XJ that I'm tired of fixing all the time from wheeling. In the last 12 months I've put over $4100 into parts alone. And thats just the reciepts I can find. It seems like I break it every time I take it out. It's only got 83k original on it.I still want an XJ but can't keep dumping money into it like I have been. What do you think?

easy fixes. raise your alternator and quit going through lakes. buy a butt load of hubs for dirt cheap at a JY and the same with spare shafts with ujoints. problem solved.

Speaking of alternators who's wise idea was it to put it so low on an XJ a vehicle that very likely will be driven through water? I am no engineer but couldnt have been put in a better spot?

On my old Ranger the alternator was mounted up high in a more protected spot.

I'd have to buy a butt load of wheel cylinders, calipers, fluids, spare sheet metal, and so on.I'm not rich and I didn't realize how expensive this hobby was til I looked at the reciepts the other day. That don't include the $70 in gas and fees every time I go out.I only get 7.5 mpg in this thing.Don't get me wrong ,I love my Jeep and will only own Jeeps til the day I die but it cost alot more to wheel than I thought.
