Seen a H3 today.....
You're right on J. GM has been sharing it's compact pick up with Isuzu for years.

GM sort of put all SUVs to shame with the "hummer" brand, thanks to the H2 all of the enviromental extremists and prius-huggers started bashing every single SUV including our beloved XJs because they 'pollute' and are unneccessary excess. However, the HMMWV is pretty badass, three of my buddies in the ARMY intrust them with their life.

my buddie has an H2 and his dad has a 2500 chevey gas. and we went wheeling with my moms Land Rover LR3 with the electronic locking rear diff. they got pretyy stuck going through the mud and could NOT get through any of the rock crawling type stuff because they both had IFS. now my moms land rover has independent front AND rear suspension but the airbags make it act like a solid axle car. and that thing still amazes me all the time! with basically highway tires that thing gets through the stuff people get through with HUGE broncos on 35s! and it really has not had anything break other than a wheel bearing. but it was just fractured and i didnt notice it till it got up to highway speeds. but either way...for the price you could have 2 XJs with d60s locked and lifted and have a shop do all the labor for you...and you would still have some money left over.

I always hated the thought of the H3. Figured it was just a mall runner. Until, my father in law got one and we went out and wheeled the snot out of it. I was very impressed with that little H3. We were with a hummer club on a day out and it went pretty much every where the H1s went. In stock trim, they are impressive. And the little H3 went many more places than its bigger brother the H2.
