A 350 is just like any motor, abuse it and do no maintenance and it will turn into a turd. And as far as the 83 camaro you mentioned.. Lets just say that wasnt one of chevy's greatest vehicles. Everything on and in those cars turns to crap.

350's just drop right in and upgrades are cheap. Theres a reason why chevy kept the 350 around for so long. Like I said earlier I have a 76 Blazer that runs I use it as a toy just to tear up the trails and I make it up almost anything without even using the 4x4 and thats on a heavy truck imagine that HP on a jeep.

Why fuel injected besides the gas mileage? I rather have a carburetor because that's that I know how to work on

Easy.
Better performance and economy, start at any angle without throttle body mods, self adjust to correct AFR at any altitude, improved emissions control, reliability.

FI systems are leaps and bounds ahead of old school carbs.

yeah. do you want your engine to run when you go up a steep hill, or are in an off camber situation? if you off road, you will definitely want some fuel injection

X2, and I'm a guy that LOVES carbs... but in my hotrods and on my bikes. If I'm gonna be tilting this vehicle in all kinds of directions climbing over stuff, then I don't want the disadvantage unlevel float bowls will give you. EFI for my wheeling please.

And I've said it before, but I'll say it again. DO YOUR RESEARCH, most of the older stock small block V8's did NOT put out more power than a stock 4.0 does. Built/Modified is a different story... but stock, the 4.0 is hard to beat.
