Wondering what you think about this...
We're looking at the air intake and CCV with filters.

He's not worried about passing emissions. It's a race vehicle. This is at 'Jeep Cherokee XJ Group' on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater
This is what he says about his race XJ:
13.9 @ 119mph , Top speed of 155mph , 300hp and 300 and some change torque. Havnt put it on a dyno since ive chiped it. But thats the readings on the Flashpaq

kinda fast for the trap time. that speed is average with a 13.1 1320.... unless its on a 1/8th mile track then I call BS for sure.
I ran a 12.8 at 119 with a 78 el camino 355sbc powered all nuts plus using a true DOT radial... Just seems off to me. That link isnt working either the facebook one to actually check out the thing. Unless he has ALOT into that motor I just dont see that being a factual claim....did he post a time slip by chance?

For real use you want both of those plumbed properly. Here's why:
The first elbow serves to draw air into the engine lubrication and intake system. You want this air properly filtered as abraison of mechanical parts and pollution of the oil is not good for longevity. Based on the very expensive ineffective K&N kit though I doubt this is a priority for this guy.
The second elbow is more important. Under PCV and CCV systems a vacuum is applied to scavenge combustion gasses and oil fumes from the crankcase. This is not only emissions related, but very important to control the formation of sludge. In a way this setup is worse than a draft tube. In additon to this, the engine basically requires this extra path for air when idling under load. With the A/C on an alternator working the IAC doesn't always allow enough air into the intake. There is absolutely zero good reason to remove the rear CCV hose.
It looks cool now but those little filters will clog with oil, and overall is not sustainable for the engine to run like that. Plus it will smell like **** every time you open the hood.
Do a cowl intake and plumb the CCV system properly.

I'm sure you have to be logged into a facebook account for it to work, otherwise I don't know.
