Default Is it safe?

Hi,
Is it safe to lift a Jeep from the rear diff? If not, where are the safe points?

This photo is for my Jeep ...

The stock bottle jack and the manual say if changing a tire, to lift it on the axle, close to the tire that needs to be changed.

Sure you can lift it there. Make sure you are lifting on the diff casting and not bearing load on the dif cover, could deform the cover leading to a leak. That is not the end of the story. What purpose is the lifting? The jeep can rock side to side on a center lift and then could topple off the jack. NEVER rely on the jack if you have to work under the jeep. Block it up after the lift so the blocks or a jack stand carry the load.
