So I was driving home down the highway when some lady on her phone pulled out in front of me not paying attention. My xj was totaled but no one was hurt( she had 2 little girls in her car and had I not of swerved I would have t boned her rite where they were sitting) thank god. The worst part was when my youngest daughter saw my xj she started crying and said "now we cant go to your fun spots at the lake anymore daddy". Undeterred I decided that I was going to get another xj no matter what! After some haggling with the insurance company I finally got 2795 for my xj(2wd), but now I have another 96 sport 4X4! When she saw it the first thing she asked was if we can go back to the lake now. I"ve always loved my xj"s over the years(I've had 4 and loved them all equally) but I never realized how much my little tom girl loved it too. now I have to start over with this one but I'm happy to be back in a XJ. LKQ here I come! Injectors, fab a new roof rack, junkyard lift, locking the front and back and hopefully I can find a cheap engine to start a rebuild on. Happy I found this site a few months ago with like minded people who are willing to help.

X2....I find it awesome that your little girl was so upset, then excited. You have created lifetime memories and instilled a passion in your young one that can never be taken away. Awesome.

glad to hear everyone was okay and sometimes its the little things that make you realize how lucky you are my little girl love the jeep and would rather ride in it than any other vechile we own.

 

I took her out to the lake and did alittle test drive to make sure everything worked(nothing to crazy or tuff) and she was in my lap the whole tim. I never thought she would love XJ's as much as i do butit makes me happy we can bond over it. Kind of funny my mom was the one who bought me my first cherokee and said that i was only aloud to go mudding if she was with me. When my daughter and i got back she helped my change the spark plugs and do a tune up. thanks guys.

 

Glad you're ok. My son was upset when I had to sell my Cj5 and got rid of my Xj.

My previous XJ was parked and locked on a 4th of July when my son-in-law heard a huge crash early am. Looked out the window and saw that a limo driver coming from the airport had fallen asleep at the wheel, drove straight across the intersection, and T-boned my XJ. Total write-off. Cops came. Fortunately there was a witness who had been walking his dog when driver claimed my parked Jeep was making an illegal U-turn in front of him. His insurance company people were uncooperative hardasses. I got use of (a crappy Hyundai) AWD for a weekend and bluebook value payout which was nowhere near what my XJ with manual transmission was worth to me.
