So I have 1995 XJ. I have read alot about there being rust on the passenger side rear floor of these Jeeps. I thought I would check today, and sure enough, I have a small amount of rust starting. Right where the right rear passengers right foot would be. Every time it rains that side of the Jeeps carpet gets wet but I have never been able to figure where the water was coming from.
The weather stripping around the door still looks good, but maybe it is just compressed from age??? Windows are not leaking...back there anyhow...
Could someone give me some ideas.
Thanks
Tim

Just climb underneath and poke it with your finger The floors are known to rust in the XJ's. Mine rusted from a little hole on the windshield post then gravity did the rest. Easiest way to tell. Is the carpet wet when it rains BEFORE you drive it or after?
yeah I got a 95 too. same problem except mine was worse than I thought. Check like he said with your finger except all around the jeep. Mine started in the right front and the whole thing went. Look at my pages

I checked from the underside and I can poke a pen thru! The carpet gets wet when it is raining and the jeep sits...only on the floor on the rear passenger side.
My question is, what could be causing it? Is it the door seal? That side window does not leak! I want to fix the cause of the problem before I fix the floor.

well if you do without the jeepie for a day or so you need to take the interior apart and look for the water trails. Don't assume its a leak in the back. it can be leaking in the front and "riding" a weld or something to the back. Do you have a sunroof? If you do check the headliner around it see if it is wet
