Sheeesh today sucked! I live in central nebraska and we have been getting pounded with snow for the past couple of days. I was kinda excited about it simply because I've been dying to see how my 89xj would do in the deep snow. Well damn first things first my 4wd just happen to not want to engage for the first time today since I've had the jeep. Well I thought I had tracked down the prob to some dry rotted vac connections to the vac diaphram on the axle. I got them fixed and still nothing. I tore the cover off to make sure the collar wasn't stripped, it wasn't. With the jeep jacked up, I slid the collar over to make sure that the front axle would engage when in 4wd and it would. So I'm guessing I have some more investigating to do. I would really prefer to do this washer mod that I've heard of for the time being if I could only find a detailed discription as what to do.
I didn't have much time to continue investing the 4wd problem because I had to be at work shortly. Leaving the other 4wd behind for myt wife I took the xj to work. To add to my probs, about 2 miles away from work my upper radiator hose decides to burst. Wtf! Being in the middle of a blizzard I made the choice to coast/limp it the rest of the way to work with the jeep dying as I pull into the parking lot. Ugh, I have never had any issues with my jeep. The jeep got pretty warm so I'm hoping that I didn't pop the head gasket because I'm not looking forward to that fix lol. Yes I could have stopped but I was not pulling to the side of the road during this snow storm and getting my wife out in it either. Just have to see what's up with it when I get back in town this weekend. Sorry guys just ranting.

ha thanks guys. the jeep isnt my only ride, i have others i can drive. I was just excited to see how it would do since ive added new wheels and tires. Im also not loooking forward to tearing it apart if ive popped the head gasket...hopefully i can just get away with the rad hose. The 4wd will be an easy fix
