i have been satisified with RC thus far. I had an issue with an item being shipped in terrible shape. called up my vendor and RC had a replacement shipped the same day.

I will say the instructions on a lot of parts/lifts leave a lot to be desired.

the instructions in the 3" AAL I did last spring were incorrect. now that I did the 4.5" and read the instructions I found the error.

oh well...it can be fixed.

heck I ordered the deal of the day RCX D30 diff guard today

Not saying anything bad or bashing on the product. I think they make a good product but the shocks seem like they were meant for a 4.5 lift
I have the short arm 6.5 kit but feel the same way. I know there is more flex there, it is just limited by the shocks. I love my lift and everything worked out well. Wish it had a longer shock.

GRIMUS, Glad to hear how you guys are working hard at changing things around. My only experience with Rough Country was 25+ years ago on a CJ-7. We always joked that the company was called Rough Country because the lift could turn the smoothest road into a rough ride. Keep up the work and fortunes will change but it can be hard to fight old rep that isn't good.

Hey since you seem to know about RC... I may be reading some positive posts here, but that's about it. You stated that you feel that most negativity is from people who bought lifts 10+ years ago, however this is someone who was new to lifts:

"To anyone out there thinking of lifting your jeep...STAY AWAY FROM ROUGH COUNTRY PRODUCTS THERE TOTAL CRAP!! Put the 4" x-series lift in my 04 Grand and nothing but problems with it. The bushings were all worn out after couple weeks had to replace, ride is stiff as hell, shocks and springs are also junk. Just a poor poor quality product will never buy anything Rough Country again. As someone said in a previous post I was also a beginner drawn in by the cheaper price of there kits and learned the hard way. You may have to spend a little more on a decent kit but is well worth it in the long run."

Another poor review

"I was very pleased with the kit when I got it! Everything looked heavy duty. When I went to install it parts where missing. I just chocked it up to this being the start of there new lift kit as I had to wait a month for the first production. They did send me the parts, install took over 1 week!!! 13 months after I got the lift a lower controll arm joint went out. They would not cover cuz it was after 12 months so I ordered a rebuild kit. They again sent the wrong parts and no instructions. After talking to Davy he finely sent me a new joint, 2 weeks now on this fix. When I got the joint the threads where all messed up and took me 2 hours with a file to get it to work. They only have good customer service till you need them to may thing right then hold on!!!!!"

Another:

"Installed R.C.'s lift on my XJ about three years ago. At first, yeah its a decent, cheap place to start, but thats about it! (Been buildin tuner cars for couple years and this was my first forray into 4x4 builds.) Over the years I've replaced every part that came in the kit one by one with another brand or a custom build! It is as i said, cheap stuff! Bushings are junk, directions are junk, geometry of the suspension after install was an atrocity to Jeeps in general, and like every one else here has said, the springs, coil and leaf, suck, there stiff as hell with no real flex for wheelin and on road will about knock the teeth out your head!!! So all in all, as had been said before for this company's stuff, there only claim to business is there cheap and they can still sucker in beginner's like i was when i started and bought this junk!!! So unless your jeeps a clunker or you don't care, save the money and buy something else, seriously!!!"

These are just a couple from one site that was doing reviews now there were high
ratings as well, but even the good reviews compelled about things. The above seem to be small details that go wrong a lot sooner than they should. I am not trying to bash here but looking for more info.

Thanks!

Bought an '88 2 door XJ with the 4.5" RC lift already installed. Previous owners were severely rough on it, having laid it on it's side at least once. It's held up remarkably well considering I put it in places it shouldn't go. The only gripe I have is that the shocks SUCK!!! I twisted 1 into a U shape coming up out of a bog pit at 15 MPH. What gives with the shocks?

They were on it when I got it. don't know really what ones they are. The paint is just about off of them and they're pretty roughed up.

I havent had time to wheel my long arms yet so for the quality and this being my first RC product I cant comment on the quality or longevity yet.

I did sell the 2.2 shocks that came with my kit before i installed them and go to another shock brand because of the feedback of noise/rattle on the 2.2's being posted and replacements doing the same thing.

There was another person that worked at RC that started this huge thread on the new Long arms and I think he just stopped responding to emails and such when the backorders started piling up.

Customer service is the key to keeping/making people happy with a product... I think its good that you have posted on here. Just dont disappear like the last guy did.
