There called crush nuts, most hardware stores have these, but they probably won't have that high flange around the top. If you want the exact ones try the dealer.

Did some research this morning on the internet for crush nut and i could not find nothing. So I went outside and started working in how to fix the problem holding down the roof rack.
As i started to work on it roof rack the guy next door came over to see what i was doing. I showed him what i was trying to do and he said why dont you just buy the replacement WELL-NUT.
So i came back in and looked up Well-nut on the internet and i found them.
The model number are 1/4a well-nut. ACE Hardware store had them.
I hope this helps someone else out there also.
BLKXJ 96: thanks for pointing me the right direction.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I wanted to say thanks for the info (I'd never heard of a well-nut), and provide a little more.
I used to be able to find a coupla parts catalogs in PDF that were handy for finding OEM parts and then ordering the parts from chryslerpartsdirect.com . The part numbers I found for the OEM nutserts or "rivnuts" are:
6502 751 1991-95

The Cherokee takes twelve of them, and they are $5 apiece, so not cheap. I wish I would have found this thread before I ordered them. The ones I have don't have the nylon/plastic (?) flange shown in your pic, but they appear to be made of soft brass. Looking at a junkyard XJ, I was stumped on how they were crimped to the roof and I was seeking out information on whether I would need a tool to mount my rack when I found this thread. I suspect these nuts work the same as your well-nuts, and I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow.
I might have saved some money had I known this was a common piece of hardware I could pick up at ACE. Between the $75 (plus shipping) ebay roof rack and $75 nutcerts, I'm kicking myself for not bidding to the end on a NOS Mopar rack that sold for $175. The only thing I'm missing now though is the center strips, which I probably don't really need.
