I have a '96 Cherokee with a bare roof. I want to start looking at roof racks to install.

What are some good roof racks for my specific case?

So you would need a gutter mount roof rack if you are after a basket type rack, or gutter mount crossbars if all you need are bars. Can also attach a $100 basket to crossbars.
I have Nates4x4 basket. It is big (48" x 72") , heavy and costs $300. Middle section is removable for 48" x 48" basket.

 

What is this $100 basket you speak of?? mine had the factory roof rack and I am looking at a roof basket budget friendly option big enough to hold a 32 inch spare.

 

Just look for baskets on amazon...there are a couple at that price point.

I have nates4x4 same as steve...Its a good rack for the price, just be prepared for a couple of weeks build time. The price is the best out there though.
