Default Rocky Road Budget Lift

Has anyone or is anyone currently using this set up? I'm looking to put a 2" lift on my XJ. Also, I need to replace my rear leafs and my front springs. Would just doing this add any height to the Jeep without the lift kit? My rear leafs are flat, so I would think that I would gain some height there.

Instead of the rocky road set up, I would just go for a set of 2 inch spacers up front. (which you can get on ebay for cheap) Then find a set of 2 inch lift rear springs, if your springs are flat, its time to replace them anyway. Stay away from blocks, they add stress to your leaf springs by adding leverage to your axle.

Do you think I would gain any height by just replacing the springs and leafs with new stock ones?

Replacing the front springs, probably.
Replacing the rear springs, definitly!

You will gain hight, but only what you have lost, so you will raise the hight of your rig, but to stock hight. Not that that is a bad thing, but for the price of doing that you could lift it. (not that everyone wants a lifted truck)

stock springs will probably raise your truck.

i had a saggin 89, my 3" lift got my 6 in the front and 8in the back. I ditched it, bought and 99 upcountry that wasn't saggin and got 2 in the front and 2 in the back (up country is 1" higher than normal). So if your saggin you can gain a lot just by returning to stock.

if your buying springs anyways, its not really any more money to buy lift springs.. all depends on what you want.
