Default Rim Decision help please...

I found a Rim and Tire shop and found 3 rims that I like... which would you all go with? My Jeep is white with NO polished anything on it. But I do have black trim...

D's all the way! I would leave the bling on the shelf.

Go with the first pic. I'm soo tired of seein D holes on XJs. Not saying it doesn't hapen, but how many people on here have actually bent an aluminum rim so bad that they popped the bead?

Not to mention, aluminum is lighter, which means less unsprung weight. Meaning you can spin your tires faster if you need to cobb it in a bad situation.

Backspacing is a concern for sure... my tires are about an inch or less away from my leaf springs now with factory rims and 31x10.5's. In fact, the add-a-leaf on the drivers side was actually rubbing the sidewall when I first got the jeep and I had to push it back into place with my foot. I don't know the backspacing on these factory rims though.

So a 4" backspacing would work with 32x11.5's then? I am staying with 15" rims but an inch wider tire and an inch larger in diameter. Cast Aluminum sucks and will crack, can't be fixed easily if at all. Forged Aluminum is very strong and can sometimes be lighter than steel. However of the three, the D hole is the cheapest... is steel so its strong. I may just go with them and have raised white letters facing out to contrast like the rest of the Jeep. I just wish I had a pic of a white XJ with black rims and RWL tires.

x2 on being tired of seeing black steelies on cherokee,... BUT! they are cheaper and down the road you can get a DIY weld-on beadlock kit and turn them into beadlocks.

X3. I really like blackrock rims, deff wouldnt get any polished or chrome tho. if you want something different u could look for a gunmetal color. Altho dhole rims are very popular and see them on everyother rig its cause they are a cheap good strong rim I can get 4 crager d window rims for $206 shipped to my door

steel wheels are very heavy... i believe the one that i looked at was over 35 lbs... my aluminum ions are 17 lbs and were not that much more than the steelies..
i'd definitely go for the polished aluminum...

My steel Cragars were 30 lbs according to the shipping labels. Add to that some even heavier 6 ply mud terrains & you have a hard-to-lift combination. I just sold my Cragars & I'm running AR aluminum wheels, shipping weight 21 lbs. And I can lift them with ease even tho I have 33" TSL Swampers. The best combination for my needs. Only time will tell if they'll hold up on the rocks, but they will in mud & on the road.

Note: Check pics of hard core wheelers - seems to me that 99% of them run aluminum wheels. That's good enough for me.

Go with the d rims. Chrome doesn't belong on any jeep
