Question Rhino/Herculining?

I've seen a couple of trucks and jeeps do this to their lower half an I'm interested. Any advice on how to go about it? (What type, how much will it cost, etc...)?

I used duplucolor which is 50$ for a 1 gallon I believe. The only thing that I have noticed is if you use tape to mark off a line like the lower half, paint it and remove the tape immeadietly! once it starts to set it will ack like rubber and pull off a jagged mishapen edge. also Ive had problems with it chipping off the floor of my xj. I dont know if its the constant heat to cooling of the floor or what not but I wish that I just used rustoleum gloss black paint (which is what I use now)

Just to clarify, I intend to use it on the outside of the Jeep on the lower half.

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted go hear.
What type of prep did you use for it? Or is that explained in the kit?

Just did my rear bumper and started my sides yesterday. Used Herc dabed two coats on with a paint brush, just couldn't get that funky roller to work. Definitely like how it turned out. Go with herc from what I'm told everything else chips.
Pix...

i used herc it works great. Prep is the most important step. Sand the area thoroughly and make sure everything is clean before you start applying. When you think you have done enough prep do some more. Then just tape off where you want to apply it. i put multiple layers of tape down. herc can sometimes soak through the tape if you leave it on too long. use a cheap paint brush and dab the herculiner on, i have used rollers and brushed the herc on like paint. Dabbing definitely works the best and gives the best result. Apply multiple coats. I did 3 to 4 coats and its not too thick. I pulled the tape off after about 30 mins once i was satisfied with the amount i applied. Then let it dry, make sure its in a well ventilated area. This stuff is smelly. I let mine dry for 3 days and it seemed about right.

Alright sweet.

One more thing: for drying, does that mean like no driving for the full three days?

i sanded mine not to bare metal just thru the clear coat and so the paint was rough then cleaned it off and dried it fully then i used the roller and rolled on the liner
i let it dry for about 30 minutes then added a second coat and repeated this for three good coats i didnt drive it that whole day but i drove it the very next day to school and work and it was plenty dry

Cool I didn't want to have it sit for a full three days without driving.

I'm planning on doing it this upcoming weekend if all goes well. I'll post up pics when I'm done for sure

Alrighty, I finished up on the "rocker panels" and I'm pleased so far. It is a little glossy and I'm hoping it will dry with a more flat tone to it. If not, no biggie.

I'll probably do my rear bumper and fenders tomorrow I hope! Might have to shove that homework aside...

vv This first picture is the before. So what do y'all think? Go for the rest?

Looks good. I finished herculining the inside of my XJ today. will post up a picture of that in my own thread tomorrow.

You scuffed up the surface before putting it on right?

One thing I did on mine was take off the plastic step things (dont know what there called) and taped that area off and herculined it.
