Has anyone ever wired up a manual switch for the reverse lights? It looks like that would be a very handy, easy, and cheap way to get some rear work lights. Anybody?

I have not done it yet, but I plan to.

I probably will not use the factory lights, tho, as I can easily get better, brighter lights.

I did this; and I was dumb enough to mount them under my bumper - I will take pictures later, but needless to say I ripped one off on my second trip wheeling when I came down hard on a rock. I used the factory fog lights, and they worked perfectly for me until that issue arose.

I'll post a picture when I have service on my phone - I'm in school so I have to wait until I'm in a different class. I managed to bend my entire factory gas tank skid as well though; so maybe he just isn't wheeling it hard enough

Ah, I have a hitch, and I think my buddy does as well.

I think, if mounted with thought, the hitch eould hit before much else, as long as your not aiming a rock or stump right at it.

I have a hitch and just got the idea of cutting and mounting lights inside the hitch tube, It sounds like it'll be safe and reliable

Nice. I actually think that looks pretty cool with just the one light. Too bad I'm one of those sissies who is scared to cut his jeep

Gee Oh Dee is right, cutting the hitch could be dangerous if you ever tow with it.

The main reason I am wanting to use my reverse lights is because they are up out of the way, and I won't be out ANY money other than for a rocker switch. Just wanting something to make it easier hooking up trailers or whatever at night. Which wire should I splice into to hardwire it to the reverse lights? Or, rather, where would be the best place to access that wire?
