Walmart sells outdoor metal paint for a good price. Krylon is the brand iirc, I used it about a year ago, other than trail scrapes it's holding up quite well.

I didn't use clear, though, as I wanted to do on-the-spot repairs quickly and cheaply.

 

Ok there's no clear on the current stripe and it's only got minor blemishes. Thanks for your help!
