Hey everyone, I'm wanting to remove the plastic side trimming on my 1998 jeep Cherokee. It's starting to peel off, so I'm thinking it would be better to remove it.
But how would I remove it?
Just rip it off?
Use some kinda of adhesive removal agent?
Once I get it off how would I remove the left over glue with harming the paint?
Thanks in advance

Heat gun or hair blow dry to heat up the adhesive helps. Take your time and don't put too much direct heat to the paint. I used a little bit of goof off and my fingers to get the rest of it off. Be sure to wash it done with soap and water after you use the goof off. I went ahead and put some wax down after it was all said and done also.

when i took mine out, i bought some goo gone from from Kragen. i applied the goo gone on the adhesive and left it over night. then the next day, i just peeled mine off slowly.
I took mine off my '98. Then I used goo gone. I let it soak in a little. Then rubbed it off with my thumb. It's a lot of work, but well worth it. Then I used Bondo Retore Black on the rest of the plastic. That was six months ago, and the stuff is still black. Only stuff I have found that stays black more than a couple of weeks. Don,t get it on the paint. You have to tape it off.

The paint under the trim will most likely be darker for the UV rays making the paint fade. You can try rubbing compound to try and bring the color back just be careful you dont rub down to the primer.
