Now some I've heard some people say that if you wheel with the doors off it can flex the body of the jeep and if you put the doors back on theres a chance they won't fit right...now I know the unibody isn't near as strong as a regular frame, but I don't think that it would flex the whole body. The doors aren't really there for structural support as far as I know. Any truth to this?

The doors don't provide structural support at all, not intentionally anyway. They may reinforce it a little but, but nothing you'd ever notice on or off. The only safety you get from the doors is side impact and protection from the elements.

It's the same stupid people who act like chopping the roof on 2 doors will make it fold like a taco off road .

Some truth yes, the door fills the hole in the body and adds slightly more rigidity but if you do frame stiffeners before going wheeling like you should then you wont have an issue. Its all people being afraid of going doorless to be honest. The difference with the doors off isn't that big, you'd only notice after quite a while of wheeling, like MANY trips.

Do the stiffeners BEFORE you screw up the body.

Wheel hard with the doors on or off, it will make zero difference in body twist.

I think he did haha.

But yeah, x2 on it making no difference. The tops and bottoms don't even come into contact with the unibody other than the weatherstripping. There's a solid quarter inch of play between the door and the body.

Just power windows and locks? Or does it have power mirrors and the speakers still too? My 98 XJ with power windows, locks, mirrors and speakers have 21 wires in the driver's door, and 19 wires in the passenger door if I remember correct. The rear doors with power windows and locks have 7 wires in each (I think.. been awhile since I did my wiring).

Oh didn't realize he said wires. I was thinking just plugs. And I have power windows, mirrors, and defroster in the mirrors too.

Well he has both answers just in case! lol. I think I read somewhere that the heated mirrors will just plug right in to an XJ that didn't have them and it doesn't require any more wires to be run.. I want heated mirrors but not a real priority unless I find them cheap haha.
