Luckily I found this site and several others and started reading for about 6 mo. before I started my search for the XJ I wanted a 1999 was the year I wanted period. After almost 3 mo. of searching a 4 state area and looking at several dozen I bought one equipped like I wanted for the most part for a good price. Went out of state and trailered it home but it drove out fine just no tags and own a good trailer and 1 ton truck. Then back here again asking questions on parts and ideas then started the build after all repairs was finished and it ran and drove well.

Bought parts I could build on later to begin a good 3" lift, 33x12:50x15's, bumpers, winch. Then start buying parts to finish when I found them on sale or as needed with help from others I knew nothing, they are what kept me from making to many mistakes.

The one thing I do regret is not installing gears and lockers in the very beginning instead of waiting for 2 yrs do everything together. As they were the single best upgrade that I made to my XJ, like a new off road 4x4 compared to before. Oh yes and the buying of syn. rope on my winch which only lasted a short time before I replaced with wire rope.

Once you drive the Wrangler you'll only regret not getting one sooner. I love my JKU.

my god that looks like hell.
and to top it off, they got replaced shortly after the brand new 33's as you can see in the picture for rusty's steel fender armor.
bushwhackers were just ****ing stupid to begin with compounded with more stupid.
but i mean there was no way to keep them full. ugh that was dumb.

Selling my 1953 ragtop M38A1 with only 33,000 miles but no place to keep it. My Cherokee Sport is a different kind of vehicle with only about 50 percent overlap of usage. Woulda Coulda Shudda have both....

ive driven a few already. it's the payment I can't get over. I haven't had a car payment in 8 years. I can't see getting one just to accomplish the same thing my xj does. however for $25k knowing I could get exactly what I want is appealing. I plan on DDing the xj until it's outlawed or totaled, whichever comes first.
