Red Light on Console below ash tray?

Red Light on Console below ash tray?
Good day!
I acquired a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2WD 4.0 HO engine, 4 speed automatic transmission.
It came to me rough and without documentation. I am slowly figuring out all its little doodads and quirks. This one I have not figured out.
On the transmission console, just engine side of the shift lever and directly below the ash tray is a little red light (LED?) that I have no idea what it is.
I am sure there are probably tons of you that know what this is! I have tried waiting by other similar Jeeps in parking lots to try and engage their owners in conversation but never seem to have enough time.
I appreciate the information.
